About the Workshop

These are fully analogue workshops – no knowledge of editing software is required.

We will focus on:

  • Theory of editing

  • Editing exercises (group and individual)

  • Designing a dummy layout

  • Introduction to bookbinding (including stitching practice)

  • Types of paper

  • Cover design

  • Printing techniques

  • Basics of publishing

Participants are required to bring a set of images in three different sizes, which will be used for editing and book dummy creation. They should also bring their own basic tools. Before the workshop, each participant must email around 30–40 images and a project description. These will be reviewed to determine the best design approach.

Our shared goal is for each participant to complete the workshop with a physical sketch of a book dummy that can be further developed. Technical aspects of bookmaking will also be discussed through practical exercises.
